This position reports to the Vice President of Human Resources. This position is located in Dayton, OH.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensuring policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • Analyzing and streamlining processes to optimize the human resources function
  • Performing internal department audits to ensure compliance and proposing remedies where applicable
  • Managing human resources administrative staff
  • Providing regular performance feedback and participating in annual performance review process
  • Leading recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel for corporate office and correctional medicine division
  • Conducting exit interviews and making recommendations to the Vice President of Human Resources on retention strategies
  • Facilitating and/or providing company harassment, worker’s compensation and professional behavior training during new hire orientation and creating presentations and applicable training materials
  • Leading company benefits administration, open enrollment communications and training
  • Coordinating corporate office performance management initiatives by creating, administering and monitoring performance improvement plans
  • Developing and updating company job descriptions; creating various department proposals to improve the human resources function
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with all employees including, executive and physician leaders, clients, and vendors
  • Managing the company’s state and self-insured worker’s compensation programs including contract renewals, claims processing, communication with TPA and state agencies, and conducting BWC audits
  • Managing the annual performance appraisal process for corporate and correctional medicine staff
  • Assisting with salary assessments and providing recommendations when appropriate
  • Administering the company tuition reimbursement program
  • Conducting fact finding on unemployment claims and providing necessary information to Job and Family Services
  • Providing training on updated human resources policies at Medical Director Meetings as needed
  • Acting as administrator for the company leadership development program
  • Participating on various internal committees
  • Preparing a variety of reports, as required
  • traveling as needed

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources related field including 5-7 years related experience and/or training; additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to use appropriate judgment and to maintain confidentiality a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and achieve results.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Must be energetic, detail-oriented, organized with exceptional follow-up skills, highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to efficiently handle multiple and often competing priorities in a multi-site corporation.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office products.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred
  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred

This person will be responsible for, but not be limited to, coordinating commercial and captive insurance coverage and risk financing with the Chief Clinical Risk Officer (CCRO); administering the risk management program on a day-to-day basis; managing all risk management databases including physician database, insurance, STARS, and credentialing confirmations; and investigating and handling non-litigated claims to conclusion at the request of the CCRO.
